Core Values

Our Core Values

At Platteview High School, we are committed to building a strong foundation that helps every student succeed. Over the past year, our staff and administration worked together to thoughtfully develop and agree upon a set of core values that reflect who we are and what we believe will help every student be successful, not just in high school, but in life: Relationships, Community, Intentional, and Perseverance.

While these are the shared values we have chosen to guide our school community, we also respect and celebrate the fact that each individual and family has their own personal values. Our goal is not to replace those, but to create a common foundation that strengthens and supports every student’s growth, belonging, and success at Platteview.

Relationships

Strong relationships create a supportive and welcoming environment where everyone can feel respected and valued. By fostering open communication, mutual respect, and empathy, we encourage collaboration and understanding, which enhance both academic and personal growth. Prioritizing positive relationships helps our students develop the social and emotional skills necessary to thrive in school and in their future endeavors.

Community

Community represents the belief that every individual—students, teachers, staff, and families—plays a vital role in creating a supportive, collaborative and productive environment. We strive to build a sense of belonging where everyone can experience the shared fellowship that comes through similar attitudes, interests and goals. This sense of community not only enhances academic success, but also reinforces the values of family, kindness, hard work, patriotism, service to others, respect for traditions and personal connections that help make Springfield a special place.

Intentional

We strive to act with purpose, thoughtfulness, and clarity in everything we do, from our teaching methods to our relationships and decision-making. Our commitment is reflected in consistently making informed choices that are framed by a desired outcome of student growth and success. By fostering and practicing intentionality, we empower students and staff to engage deeply, reflect critically, and achieve to their fullest potential.

Perseverance

We believe that growth and success are achieved through consistent effort and a mindset that focuses on pushing forward, even when faced with potential obstacles. We want to instill in our students the belief that learning from failure is more important than assigning blame. By modeling and teaching perseverance, we can leverage the relationships we have built to help us all learn to embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, to stay focused on achievement, and to develop the grit needed to thrive in and out of school.
